Grace Nguyen comes from Huế in central Vietnam and finds herself in Vienna in 2012, where an unfamiliar city soon becomes considerably stranger than expected.
Practical, observant and not easily impressed by titles or mysterious reputations, Grace has a useful habit of questioning assumptions that everybody else has already agreed to accept. Her Vietnamese background shapes the way she understands family, obligation and the supernatural, but she has no interest in becoming anybody's convenient guide to exotic wisdom.
